Dr. Riley Moberly

Riley (she/her) grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio and attended Kent State University, where she studied Biology and Psychology and was a varsity rugby player, serving as Captain and Vice president of the women’s rugby team. She then went to Northeast Ohio Medical University for medical school. During medical school, she continued as a coach for the Kent State rugby team for 3 years. At NE Ohio, her research has focused on hematopoietic cell function and low oxygen signaling. Additionally, Riley co-founded the NE Ohio Medical School Alliance for Disability, Inclusion, and Advocacy, an organization which partnered with the Special Olympics of Ohio to organize sports physicals for athletes with disabilities, hosted disability-focused reading sessions at local elementary schools, and led inclusive programming such as adaptive dance sessions for individuals with mobility impairments. She also served as secretary of the AAP Pediatric Action Club, served on her school’s Curriculum Council, and is a peer tutor. Riley is interested in critical care or hematology/oncology, with a strong interest in medical education. Outside of medicine, she is also a painter – she has painted numerous pictures of animals that have been donated to the nursery and playrooms of Akron Children’s Hospital. She also enjoys playing thumb piano and guitar, and has been an athlete her whole life — playing soccer, basketball, and softball from age four through high school before finding rugby in college.
